About Justin John Greene:
Justin John Greene, a graduate of The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and recipient of numerous scholarships, has participated in various group shows and installations throughout Los Angeles, Chicago, and Florence, Italy. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Justin John Greene has been painting since he was in high school; he uses different mediums to express his often-humorous view of the world.
The drawings in "Avant-Odd", his first solo exhibit in Los Angeles, combine elements of couture fashion sketching with a sense of the grotesque, in order to create an uneasy balance or expectations; a more complex notion of beauty. The flamboyant and gestural line commonly associated with fashion illustration, is contrasted with a humorous and guttural doodle that aims to deface the elegant aura of fashion illustrations, adding commentary to style.
