About Marta Bialy:
Marta Bialy, born in Gdansk, Poland, during the Communist regime, moved to the U.S. when she was nine years old. She studied art, painting, and drawing, since she was a child, and about two years ago, she fell in love with metal-smithing and the different processes involved, upon starting to teach a metal-smithing class at PCC. Marta has shown her works in numerous group shows since 2007, and the exhibit at EM & Co is her first solo show. Marta has always been a non-conformist, in life, as well as in her artwork. "Soul Escape" draws upon numerous sources of inspiration, including metaphors, infatuation, desires, architecture, and military influence, as well as the personal need to escape current reality into a different form. To Marta, art is a synthesis of her personal feelings. Marta is currently finishing a BFA at CSULB, and is an art assistant and laboratory technician at PCC.
